Construction Machinery Exports Maintain Growth, Internationalization Process Advances Steadily.

Based on sorted customs data, China's total import and export volume of construction machinery reached USD 28.911 billion from January to May 2026, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.5%.

 

Breakdown: Import value stood at USD 1.009 billion, down 7.44% year-on-year; export value hit USD 27.902 billion, rising 20.8% year-on-year. Calculated in RMB, cumulative exports from January to May amounted to RMB 194.005 billion, a year-on-year growth of 17%.

 

Building on the rapid growth recorded in 2025, exports maintained a substantial upward momentum in the first five months of this year, with cumulative growth exceeding 20% in US dollar terms, outpacing last year's growth rate. Specific regional export performance is as follows:

 

Among exports to six continents, shipments to Africa rose 51.7% year-on-year, exports to Oceania climbed 33.39% year-on-year, exports to South America grew 32.7% year-on-year, exports to North America increased 23.3% year-on-year, exports to Europe edged up 17.2% year-on-year, and exports to Asia went up 8.44% year-on-year.

 

In terms of share of total exports across six continents: Asia accounted for 39.5%, Europe 19.91%, Africa 17.45%, South America 11.87%, North America 7.44%, and Oceania 3.83%.

 

By key regional market distribution: Exports to Africa and Latin America grew 43.4% year-on-year, exports to the 27 EU member states rose 31.8% year-on-year, exports to the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) region increased 25.7% year-on-year, and exports to ASEAN expanded 23.8% year-on-year.

 

Exports to countries and regions along the Belt and Road Initiative made up 42.99% of total exports, while shipments to the ten BRICS nations accounted for 26.4% of all exports.

 

Among all 228 trading partners of China's construction machinery sector from January to May this year, export value rose for 171 partners and declined for 57 partners.

 

Products driving export growth primarily include: crawler excavators, off-highway mining dump trucks, aerial work platforms, loaders, internal combustion forklifts and lifting platforms, concrete mixer trucks, other engineering vehicles, and other cranes.
